MFW SS2013

In regards to Milan I'm more inclined to go into raptures about their architecture, tanned men and Roman Holiday rather than their fashion. My fashion week highlights are always centred around Paris and the glorious LDN however designers like Moschino, Prada and D&G have completely entranced me with their last two collections and so the septic of Italian fashion began her research...
Although I do think some of the shows were verging on tacky (DSquared I'm looking at you) I really enjoyed some of the collections especially the traditional Sicilian influence seen at D&G.  Umbrella strips and kitschy scarves that are so wearable for Summer, some may argue that it's a little predictable for Dolce and Gabbana but then some could argue that it had enough stunning stand out pieces to keep it fresh such as the basket weave dress.
On the other end of the spectrum, Prada's show couldn't have been more different. Embracing florals and Japonisme for a Geisha like collection moving from dark to light. I think those embellished Getas may be my favourite accessory showcased, WANT!
"Dream is forbidden, nostalgia is forbidden, to be too sweet is not good. Everything we used to feel historically, now you can't enjoy. The clothes are the expression of this impossible dream." - Miuccia Prada

LFW - SS13 Report

Warned you I'd be back soon! London Fashion Week is the that time of year that truly gets my heart racing and although S/S is never my favourite season in fashion and I find myself not enjoying very many collections on a whole, 2013 nearly gave me an aneurysm in the best way possible! Apart from the glaring exception of Topshop Unique, which in my humble opinion, was dull as dishwater.
Despite starting college in the midst of Fashion Week I was glued to my fashion tags and twitter on my phone to see if Christopher Kane was going to break my heart with clothes lust again this year?  He shattered it. Was Henry Holland going to showcase blinding neons and manage to make them chic? Nobody could do it better. Can leather work for Summer? THAT Giles laser cut leather dress screams yes. Would Mary Katrantzou still reign supreme as the darling of kooky style? That woman has cemented herself in fashion history as a creative genius.

I am completely over stimulated and as they say a picture speaks a thousand words here are my favourites!

NYFW - SS13 Report

Hi guys! I haven't blogged in ages due to moving back to Dublin for college and starting a new course so hopefully when I'm a bit more settled in I'll be back to regular posts. I think I would be condemned to wear Crocs for the rest of my life if I didn't acknowledge fashion week. And you know it's a good one when you're already over the A/W trends and want it to be Spring so you can deck yourself out in those LWD (Little White Dresses) that are everywhere! It will be interesting to see how the high street interprets this lot. It's essential to my happiness that I have that china print Ruffian dress to wear lazing around in the sun, realistically there will be no money for the dress and no sun in Ireland but hey, a girl can dream and the best way she can dream is, in high fashion!

here are my favourite looks from NYFW!

Style Inspirations - Part 2

My first style inspiration post went down well so I decided to do a follow up since I literally have a list as long as my arm. But don't worry it's not going to be things like "the trees when it's raining", that may indeed work for designers and their ilk but one of my favourite ways to get a fashion inspiration fix is creeping on people and adapting the parts I like to fit in with my own style.

Chloe Sevigny
Is there anything this girl can't do? Model, actress, designer and god knows what else there's no denying that Chloe Sevigny is a talented lady and there's also no denying that she looks achingly cool during each of her endeavors. I especially admire how she does femininity bare faced with disheveled, dirty blonde hair and glasses and then just as easily, dressed down in leather and masculine shirts.

Sophia Lamar
Transexual actor, model and "nightlife personality". Think headpieces and a lot of black with different textures.  Gotta love the serious androgyny of this!

Vanna Youngstein

Everyone wants to be an New York it girl and who better to draw inspiration from than this 25 year old girl  living in Little Italy in New York. She may have dreams of becoming a Mafia Wife but Vanna is currently working as a stylist, designer and a shopping associate at Opening Ceremony. I absolutely adore her styling work as well as her vast array of leather jackets, little dresses and distinct lack of heels. She looks like the type of girl everyone want to go for drinks post college with.

Agyness Deyn for Doc Martens

"I've always had a really intense relationship with Dr. Martens, right from my first pair back when I was 13, which I bought as a combination of showing that I wanted to rebel against my parents and they were the coolest boots that I could get away with wearing to school which stood for something that gave me my own stamp of originality."
This collaboration features clothing, accessories and of course, footwear inspired by Winona Ryder, Courtney Love and "all those girls that had hot boyfriend's in the 90's".

Grimes

Electronic music's newest sweetheart and the styling on her latest video Genesis made my jaw drop! She is now reason 45678 why I want blonde hair and a python. Slightly reminiscent of Cassie from Series 1&2 of Skins with a Japanese influence
